Dawidu was born in Paris. Music and theatre have been his passions since childhood. He initially explored the alternative electronic scene and in 2009 moved to London and Bucharest to hone his DJ skills, already favouring attention-grabbing tracks that tell a story and invite us to ride the gaps. Back in Paris four years later, he founded Te Iubesc. The record shop soon became the haunt of movers and shakers such as Nicolas Lutz, Francesco del Garda, Vera, James Dean Brown or Junki, with whom Dawidu shared the decks. This enabled him to entirely focus on his search for, and transmission of new music.
Deep down, Dawidu remains a nomad. With an ear trained on the dancefloors of Robert Johnson, Fabric and Hoppetosse and a Rotary mixer by way of magic suitcase, he startles his audience by his ability to hop between eras and genres with the greatest ease. Far from being defined by the city he lives in, he has perfected his skills and expanded his collection through gigs in Berlin, Tbilisi, New-York, Moscou and at Waha Festival.
As a true chameleon, Dawidu adapts to every atmosphere while playing outside the box. In the daytime, Dr Jekyll delivers house, future jazz, nu disco and synth-pop. At night, Mr Hyde ventures into the depths of acid-house, EBM, techno, electro. Whatever the time, he transcends fashion and whimsical novelty with coolness, style and confidence.
Dawidu also collects ambient and experimental music. On Te Iubesc Radio (http://www.Teiubescrecords.com/), he has shared no less than twenty-five days’ worth of atmospheric gems. Meanwhile, the shop has been expanding as an open oasis of exchanges and encounters through in-store live sessions and the introduction of sapology, a selection of cheerful, second-hand clothes and accessories at an affordable price. Whether in music or in fashion, Dawidu thrives on opening new perspectives. Indeed, his looks are a pure reflection of his DJ sets: playfully engaging with symbols and radiant, they both leave a lingeringly powerful impression.
